What’s Up Wednesday: A Fun Update

I’m trying out something new! I’m linking up with Mix and Match Mama blog (and her friends) to tell you “What’s Up” lately. I recently found the Mix and Match Mama blog and I’ve been enjoying it so much. It has a little bit of everything – cooking, clothes, books, etc. Take a peek!

What we’re eating this week…

I’m trying out the French Onion Joe’s slow cooker recipe in Mix and Match Mama’s new “Simmer” cookbook. Thanks to evening practices every night of the week, my slow cooker is my best friend and it’s been so nice to have a few new recipes to incorporate into my meal plan.

Keeping the tradition alive, I’m baking Paula Deen’s Pumpkin Ooey-Gooey cake for Thanksgiving dessert. No one in my family likes pumpkin pie but this pumpkin cake gets gobbled up quickly.

What I’m reminiscing about….

I’ve been thinking a lot about this time last year, when we started the process of selling our house and buying a new one. We were filled with hope and excitement – completely unaware of the hard, stressful months that were ahead of us. And I’ve been feeling SO THANKFUL that we’re through it and everything eventually worked out for us.

What I’m loving…

Sunrise. Is it just me or are fall sunrises extra pretty? I have a beautiful view of the sunrise from my kitchen window. It’s like a new present for me every morning from God. I light a candle and enjoy!

And….Christmas carols. I started listening to Christmas music weeks ago and I can’t get enough. As an added bonus, some of my favorite artists have released or will be releasing Christmas music this year. I’ve already bought and listened to Gwen Stefani’s new Christmas album many times (her duet with Blake Shelton is so cute and catchy!) and I’m eagerly waiting for Sia’s take on Christmas tunes.

What I’m dreading…

Having to go to the mall after Thanksgiving. So I’m desperately trying to finish my Christmas shopping early or do the rest online!

What I’m working on…

I can’t resist any challenge having to do with books so this is happening…

Come join in on the fun!

and I’m finishing up (my modified version) of NaNoWriMo. More to come on that later…

What I’m excited about…

Decorating. Kitties under the tree. Baking. Cooking. Snow. Cozy time at home. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year!

What I’m listening to…

The Lazy Genius Holiday Game Plan series is bringing some much-needed guidance and sanity to my holiday organization.

What I’m wearing… What I’m reading…

I bought these Sanuk boots for my daughter and loved them so much that I bought a pair for myself! They are cozy, super easy to slip on, and versatile. I know I’m going to get a lot of wear out of them.

I’m reading A Fall of the Marigolds by Susan Meissner. It’s an intriguing and somewhat melancholy story that pairs perfectly with fall, and yet, the bright cover is helping to beat away the early sunrise/time change blues.

What I’m doing this weekend…

What I’m looking forward to next month…

 All things Christmas!

And, specifically, a very special tea date I have planned with my daughter at a historic manor. We have to dress up, it’s supposed to be decorated lovely and mostly I can’t wait to make a cherished memory with her.

That’s a wrap! Please add your own “What’s Up” in the comments. I love hearing from you!
