Why I Love Trader Joe’s

My undying love for Trader Joe’s is no secret. As we’ve moved around the country, sometimes we’ve lived far away from my beloved store (sob!). Thankfully I had friends and family that were willing to send stockpiles of my favorite snacks. Other times, I’ve driven long distances to shop at Trader Joe’s. We live close to one now (yay!) and I find myself doing more and more of my grocery shopping there.

Friends that are new to Trader Joe’s often ask me for ideas or suggestions of my favorite items. I thought I’d share that list here. One or two items have changed over the years but mostly my essentials remain the same.

There are so many items to choose from, but if I was stranded on a deserted island and could only bring five items from Trader Joe’s with me, I would bring these five things items…

Sea Salt and Turbinado Sugar Chocolate Covered Almonds – words cannot express my adoration, my devotion or my passion for these chocolate covered almonds. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I can’t live without them. I keep two containers of these in the pantry at all times because once I ran out of them and I was basically in hysterics over it. I eat these almost every night as my sanity-saving, finally-got-the-kids-in-bed snack. They might not be everyone’s cup of tea but to me they are little pieces of heaven.

Milk Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Pretzels – a pretzel nugget filled with peanut butter and dipped in chocolate – voilà! Deliciousness! Obviously I have a thing for salty and sweet.

Sweet and Spicy Pecans – sweet and spicy sounds a lot like me! These nuts are the perfect snack for when you can’t decide if you want sweet or savory, or when you’re feeling like a little bit of both.

Jalapeno Pepper Hot Sauce – Have you ever noticed how hot sauces add a lot of spice but not a lot of flavor? This hot sauce gives a nice kick of spice with a decent amount of flavor as well. I eat it with tacos and quesadillas. My husband puts it on almost everything.

Honey Mango Shave Cream – I adore this shave cream. You will too.

Honorable mention goes to their flowers. I’ve always been too practical to buy flowers but in the darkness of winter I decided to start splurging on flowers once a month. You can’t go wrong with any of their floral arrangements. They are beautiful, reasonably priced and all the flowers I’ve bought have lasted for weeks!

I know I’m not alone in my Trader Joe’s mania. What are you Trader Joe’s must-haves?

  1. You are actually one of the main reasons I’ve gotten hooked on TJ’s myself. My first experience was the store in Albuquerque, NM and I was in love. Their prices are great for a whole foods grocery. You also sent me a box of some of your favorites. Those sweet and spicy pecans are wonderful, their coffees are great, and last fall I fell in love with their pumpkin spice latte mix. The closest one to me now is still three hours away. But sometimes the drive is worth it! ❤
