Meal Plan: 4th of July


It’s still a few days away but I’m already thinking (dreaming) about our 4th of July menu. I love summertime cookouts — and the 4th is the best of the best!

Whenever I’m working on a holiday meal plan, I always wonder what other folks are planning to eat…partly because I’m always on the lookout for new recipes and partly because I love to talk about food.

So, I thought I’d share my menu, in case anyone needs ideas or is curious like me.

Main Course: Rachael Ray’s Double-Decker “Animal Style” Hamburgers – These burgers are the closest thing this California-girl-living-on-the-East-Coast can get to an In-N-Out hamburger. God bless Rachael Ray for coming up with this recipe! Even if you live near an In-N-Out, these hamburgers are still worth making. Yum-o, as Rachael would say.

IMG_3112 This is not glamorous food photography (sorry!) but I’m including it as proof that I have actually made this recipe and was so thrilled with it that I had to take a picture!

Side Dish: Pioneer Woman’s Spicy Pasta Salad with Smoked Gouda – Since pasta salad is my favorite side dish, I always take extra care to have a super yummy pasta salad. This recipe is one of the best pasta salads that I’ve ever had.

Save room for dessert…Paula Deen’s Not Yo’ Mama’s Banana Pudding – The name Paula Deen is enough convincing for me that this dessert is gonna be good. I don’t even like banana pudding and I LOVE this dessert. I’m drooling just thinking about it…

I feel confident this is a solid line up.
